FOOD HAMPERS FOR ORPHANED FAMILIES Our last food parcel distribution for 2010 was done on the 15th December 2010 at our centre. Each family received double groceries which included variety of Christmas goodies and ensuring that the items given to families will last them until our next distribution in mid- January 2011. Due to time, as the Care workers were preparing to travel to their homeland to spend holidays with their families, children decided to have a farewell party for gogo Caslina’s twins as they were relocating to Natal. Toiletries for children and teenagers We have bought toiletries for 50 young children and 28 teenagers. The toiletries that were distributed amongst young children included a tub of Vaseline, bath soaps, tooth paste, school shoe polish and for teenagers it included, bottle of body lotion, glycerin, toothbrush, toothpaste, roll-on deodorants, body spray, sanitary towels and shoe polishes. Children were so excited to receive the parcels and we decided that for teenagers we would give them toiletries that would last them for 3 months including 4 packets of sanitary towels for girls. COSMETICS 30 school going teenagers received their first cosmetics for the year 2009, which include body lotions, glycerin, 2 x bath soaps, 2 x roll-ons, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, school shoe polishes x 2, sanitary towels for girls. And children and grandmothers each has received 340ml tub of Vaseline lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, 2 x bath soaps, 2 x shoe polish for school going children and roll-ons. Through the mail, I have received the News Bulletin for June 2009 from the Wakefield Grannies. One of the few things more warming than an African Welcome is an Alexandra Gogo Welcome. Lindiwe and Mahlape on the right After weeks of The Wakefield Grannies gathering together letters, photographs, calendars, 60 black canvas shopping bags, Canadian pins, small gifts and not to mention all the beautiful knitted squares that Nina Minde had collected from all her Grannies in Montreal, we finally arrived at the Alexandra Clinic early October, 2007. REPORT TO WAKEFIELD GRANNIES

Spring 2010
THE BLANKETS 59 blankets were bought from Masco wholesalers in Mid-May2010 and were delivered on the 29 May 2010, during our food distribution. All our families, those headed by grannies and others headed by aunts and youth were very excited to receive the blankets as winter this year is extremely cold. We were very Blessed during the distribution of blankets and groceries that staff members from Standard Bank came to help us with the distribution and each member donated extra groceries to each orphaned families.
